HOW TO CHANGE EXISTING SW FILE SYSTEM OPTIONS

August 22, 2009 in CAD, SolidWorks

I have heard this request many times so putting it up over here. The whole credit for this should go to Stefan Berlitz of http://solidworks.cad.de/ http://swtools.cad.de . Without his wonderful macro, this option might not have been possible.

Before starting the process I will strongly advise you to make a backup of the files.

  1. Open you part, [...]

SolidWorks World 2010: Call for Papers

August 20, 2009 in CAD, SolidWorks

SolidWorks World wouldn’t be the same without the Breakout Sessions and their presenters.  Each year, there is a call for papers.  This is where anyone with experience in a particular topic can propose a presentation as a speaker.  Not everyone who submits a paper will have their presentation accepted.  However, you never know.

Topics of interest [...]

Jon Hirschtick at SW Corp HQ

August 20, 2009 in CAD, SolidWorks

When Jon Hirschtick talks, his excitement is infectious.  Maybe reason for this is that he is excited about what he’s talking about.  At the recent visit to SolidWorks headquarters, several of us SolidWorks bloggers got to met with Jon again, but it never seems like enough time.

He talked about how he likes to keep up [...]

SolidWorks World 2010 Registration

August 20, 2009 in CAD, SolidWorks

It hardly seems like all the much time has gone by since SolidWorks World 2009.  Even during our current recessed economic times, SWW09 proved to be unexpectedly successful, with a larger than expected attendance.  It’s now time to begin thinking about SolidWorks World 2010 (SWW10)!  Date: January 31 – February 3, 2010 in Anaheim, CA [...]

SolidWorks Labs

August 13, 2009 in CAD, SolidWorks

One of the more fascinating groups at SolidWorks Corp is SolidWorks Labs.  The R&D members in this group really have no central location from which they operate.  They are dispersed throughout the world.  They work by taking tons of input from many different sources and funnelling these into their group for development.  Technology they develop [...]

User Experience Group

August 13, 2009 in CAD, SolidWorks

During my visit to SolidWorks headquarters, I was able to met with members of the User Experience Group, such as Tom Spine, who is working hard to further improve the SolidWorks/human interface.  You may wish to check out his recent article and questionnaire.

Another area where the User Experience Group is focused is on Help files.  [...]

Secret Spy Photos within SolidWorks Headquarters

August 13, 2009 in CAD, SolidWorks

Several fellow bloggers and I were recently fortunate enough to be taken on a tour of the SolidWorks headquarters in Concord, MA.  Not many have the clearance for such an honor.  (That last of such tours was conducted on April 1, 2005.)  The onsite DNA analysis required samples that I now regret giving up.  The [...]
