I am a major fan of the BE2Camp unconference theme, its just a very cool and simple way to meet and listern to very good presentations, the one I attended in Birmingham was just very good, I’m only sorry I did not get chance to travel to London to the recent event there, but this new Ecocamp looks to be just the ticket. I certainly have mine booked and will be there.

Be2camp member Carmen Boscolo is organising EcoCamp in Coventry, UK, on Saturday 12 December and its sustainability theme may well appeal to many Be2camp people, including some of those who attended Be2camp Brum in August. We are working in partnership with EcoCamp to promote the event, and you can register to attend at www.ecocamp.ning.com.

As a young junior in a practice in Birmingham, there was an almost weekly competition to create a paper plane that would stay afloat the longest, working in a building 19 floors up, we have great fun launching planes over Birmingham and seeing just how far they would go. There were always, secret designs and working in an office full of paper, they came in all sizes, from small aerobatic models to the long sleek distance models, so its with some nostanga that I show this little clip I found, were a classic little model is created.

You may wonder were the CPD is on this article,,,,, hang in there, I hope you will see the benefit of this app.

Last week I attended the very excellent BE2camp in Birmingham, and was amazed at the presentations on the open source map project, which I have also picked up on Leo Laports TWITS podcast, I think the application bears much weight within our work, so when i saw this, article on Geocashing,  I thought, is there an app that will allow us Technologists to help out, currently it seems not, but if not mentioned, then we never will have the opensource mapping app for the iphone, If there were one, I certainly would use it to plot areas of interest, such as a building site  for houses or an office block, roads etc, now do you see were I am coming from, the technology has many openings for us, now the next question is, can I import the data into Vectorworks, and I leave that as an open question to people like Joh Pickup and the like
