I am a major fan of Chris Brogan and read most of what he sends out, on an almost daily basis, and when I saw this little video on his Trust Agent Book, I thought that it was worth spreading about, its a good basis for developing any business plan, I have seen all kinds of people over the last 40 years in business, and can tell you straight away I never liked working for office bullies, who thought that making life hard was the right way, I often left that job quicker than I might have

It’s not about being bullish, or hard, it’s just about doing to others as you would wish them do to you, kinda thing, have a look at the video, I liked it, I have not yet read his book, but will soon enough.

3D Scanner Used In Radiohead Music Video

October 16, 2009 in AutoCAD, CAD

How cool is this!
3D laser scanners were used in the new Radiohead music video of their song “House Of Cards”. I remember the first time I saw a demonstration of a 3D laser scanner, where the conference room and a mans upper torso and head were scanned, and thinking “this is really cool!” – Apparently [...]

Its a strange name, but well worth the visit if your into video production in any shape, Hand Held Hollywood is a very cool web site for video and film production, lot of articles and production tips.  I use Final cut Pro and they have a great little video promoting a new iPhone app for all the keyboard short cuts.

OK so this is not Architecture, it’s all about the web and the new html 5 standard, but watch the video below, its all about the new features you will be seeing this year, and I think it opens the way for some very cool applications which are browser based, such as CAD programs, Autocad, we have een recently is looking at this, and others will go, it opens up a lot of interesting ways to share drawings, map, and other web pages. Its also about presentation and thats of interest to us all, every practice should have a web page with cad and video’s of current and past projects.

Click on the video and see the google youtube video see how wide and big it is, is this a new screen !

The video is not short at about an hour long, but stick with it, its interesting and will allow you to see were the browsers are heading.

Architectural Technologist – Solar Cell innovation

Map of solar electricity potential in Europe
Image via Wikipedia

I found this link this morning and stood transfixed at the brilliant innovation shown on this video, it takes the photovoltaic cell to the next level and offers yet more hope on the PV industry being able to help, in solving our energy needs, I don’t think its quite there yet, but this in surely a way ahead, have a look at the National Geographic video and watch the video, I think that you should look for a good 1/2 hour CPD is you follow up on this with a little research, perhaps follow your mind a little with some details on how we can detail these into a standard house. Send me your sketch’s I’ll publish any design / idea.

Architectural Technologist – Put Architecture on stage

September 21, 2009 in CAD, Vectorworks

For the Sunlight article on Wikipedia. Origina...
Image via Wikipedia

I found this on the Sensing Architecture web site, I just thought it’s a very cool way to use the facade of any building, does it work in bright sunlight, I don’t think so, but its interesting all the same.

The video is by Urban Screen, a company that claims to “put architecture on stage”. They basically design large-scale projections for urban surfaces.

You will notice how the building facade in this video becomes dynamic and its skin seems to “breathe” — even if it is only an illusion.
